Secret Game Unlocked
Hello. I am not online anymore. But I have seen renewed interest in the Lovely Estate, and I recently played through a game called Mouthwashing. It is a superb game, and it reminded me deeply of this game, and it made me wonder of what could've been if this had taken off. So I've now uploaded something that has never been publicly released - the original version of this game.
In May of 2021, I finished a full version of Who I See PS1 but did not publicly release it; I sent it out to QA testers and friends to fix up. In April of 2022, I released The Lovely Estate. The differences between these two things are enormous.
Who I See PS1 is a fully complete story with a total ending. The Lovely Estate ends when Alice gets her bloody ball. Why the difference?
Who I See PS1 does not have voice acting, the filter options, or any of the "secret" elements, such as the hidden messages or behind-the-scenes story. It was a straightforward remix of the point-and-click, although the second half - which is not in The Lovely Estate - is very different, more filled out, and has so much more creativity and cinematography with it.
Basically, I had finished Who I See PS1 for the Haunted Demo Disk at the time, but then the deadline was significantly moved forward and I wondered how to use the extra time. Somehow I got the idea that I should cut the game in half and overhaul the first half to be 10x more quality. Along with voice acting, I set up the Secret Story to be observed, picked apart, and found piece by piece in the game. You will know you got the Secret Ending if the last thing you see is a wall of text on the screen. If you know, you know.
I am very proud of what I created. But it was quite unfortunately very glitchy, buggy, and rough because I didn't have time to QA it. It ended up not part of the Demo Disk because it was so fraught with issues that it just didn't work on some computers. This was of course extremely demotivating and discouraging.
I left it alone then. After playing through Mouthwashing and thinking of this game, I decided to release the original game.
This is the final of many copies I sent to QA testers, so it is the final version. Even then, there seems to be one issue that pops up a few times; sometimes, the screen is supposed to be fully black or fully covered by an image, but it only takes up a certain amount of the screen. Probably a programming error. Besides that, the game should be fully operational.............with a fully functioning Save System! I could not get that working in The Lovely Estate but it works here as long as you don't save during dialogue.
I really really really really really really REALLY hope you appreciate this original copy, namely for its second half/climax/ending, which is not present in The Lovely Estate.
Also. If you have made any fanart of Who I See or The Lovely Estate, I have seen it and I deeply, deeply cherish it. I am not comfortable reaching out to or talking with people, but I have saved every single piece of fanart and admired it greatly. It really, really, really lights up my soul. It hits my heart well. I will never forget and I will always keep looking at all of this fanart so much. It really does mean more than I could ever say.
Thank you.
